Bear with me, I'm still technically challenged even if I'm a tech slut, I can't imbed a link.
Anyway, this link and another about a man being assaulted because he dared confront three individuals on his lawn, one of which was using it as a toilet, just started a slow burn. I believe the two stories have some commonality. One of the definitions of narcissism is " A psychological condition characterized by self-preoccupation, lack of empathy, and unconscious deficits in self-esteem."(http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Narcissism)
Have we as a society allowed the younger generation to become so apathetic to their actions that we have condoned a "no consequences" reaction? How did this happen? Where did we go wrong? I see this so often in college classrooms that it is nauseating. If you ask someone to remove their hat in a building or classroom, the most common response is,"Make me." Well, I can't since physical actions are forbidden and grade consequences is quickly appealed and your decision is struck down since we don't want to make the student feel bad about themselves. BAH! PHPPPPt, etc..
What happened to developing a strong character through the trials and tribulations in life? Wasn't the saying, "If it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger?" If you choose to do something stupid, take responsibility for your actions! We have choices that are made everyday in this life. Some are good and some aren't. We have to be able to understand the consequences of both actions and hopefully have thought about those choices before they are made. I just don't see how someone can justify those actions mentioned above. Same goes for those who feel they can run from the cops. If you choose to run after they signal you to move over, you have committed a crime. Part of the privilege of driving is to obey ALL of the laws. If you run and the cops feel your weaving in and out of traffic is potentially harmful to others already on the road, don't be surprised if they try to stop you. If the consequences of that choice ends up being harmful to you, I can't summon an ounce of sympathy for your plight.
Ok, I'm done. I'll start rambling and I need to prepare for class. There are consequences if I don't!
Time for a reality check....the last one bounced!
Everyday is your birthday and every night is Saturday night!!
