How organized is your neighborhood?

I found out ours is not very good, but they are willing to step up and lend a hand!  Dastard and I were watching TV last night and I noticed a Police Department vehicle drive by and then not 5 minutes later an officer, on foot, was walking in the same direction.  I told D that they must be looking for someone cause the cop on foot was wiping his brow and the temp wasn't that hot.  He turned on his ham radio and was listening to the scanner and sure enough they were looking for someone.

A 5 year old boy.

He had gone missing in our neck of the woods so we decided to "go for a walk" and see what we could do to help.  The PD was going door-to-door asking if anyone had seen him but we really didn't have any info so we stopped the next officer we saw. (They were everywhere)

Description:

5 years old
Brown hair, brown eyes
blue jeans and top
oversized cowboy boots
Name of Hunter
Autistic
He won't respond to his name unless you touch him.  (Great:()

We have a small man made pond in the neighborhood so we started there.  By the time I had made my way down one side, there were more people out and about.  This was after 7 pm.  They had EMS, fire dept and PD, with helicopter, out and Dastard got the local ham radio operators who were listening involved.  It was really nice to see so many people looking for this little boy.  In fact, those people who didn't know anything and were out watching the copter ended up in the search when they were told.

They boy was found after 9 pm hiding nearby two doors down safe and sound.  Thankfully, since it was getting dark and visibility was diminishing.

The only sadness I had was that the PD seemed very unorganized.  Of course, this isn't something that happens very often in our town so I'm sure a Search procedure wasn't handy.  I hope next time it will be.  I happened to see officials back tracking over areas that had already been checked.  Not that a second pair of eyes wouldn't help, but there just didn't seem as if there was much communication going on between the different factions.  Of course, there were too many citizens involved for them to keep track so I do understand that.

All is well, except for the 12 nasty skeeter bug bites I got, not to mention the whopper on my neck.  And no it wasn't a hickey, I prefer to keep them hidden:)

I was especially proud of my oldest step son for coming home and participating in the search with his ham radio and bike.

Keep on Go!
