Today's album of the day is from a "local band" (their hometown is Raleigh) called Between the Buried and Me. Although I like them all, The Anatomy Of is by far my favorite.
On this album the band covers their main influences... with some pretty tremendous results. Oh, and for those of you who don't know, BTBAM is a mix of thrash, sludge, grindcore, and a smidge of good ol' fashioned rock. List below copied from Wikipedia.
- "Blackened" (Metallica cover) (James Hetfield, Jason Newsted, Lars Ulrich) – 6:40
- "Kickstart My Heart" (Mötley Crüe cover) (Nikki Sixx) – 4:55
- "The Day I Tried to Live" (Soundgarden cover) (Chris Cornell) – 5:28
- "Bicycle Race" (Queen cover) (Freddie Mercury) – 3:09
- "Three of a Perfect Pair" (King Crimson cover) (Adrian Belew, Bill Bruford, Robert Fripp, Tony Levin) – 4:11
- "Us and Them" (Pink Floyd cover) (Rick Wright, Roger Waters) – 7:52
- "Geek U.S.A." (The Smashing Pumpkins cover) (Billy Corgan) – 5:25
- "Forced March" (Earth Crisis cover) (Karl Buechner) – 3:52
- "Territory" (Sepultura cover) (Sepultura) – 4:50
- "Change" (Blind Melon cover) (Blind Melon) – 4:07
- "Malpractice" (Faith No More cover) (Mike Patton) – 4:02
- "Little 15" (Depeche Mode cover) (Martin L. Gore) – 4:31
- "Cemetery Gates" (Pantera cover) (Phil Anselmo, Darrell Abbott, Rex Brown, Vinne Paul Abbott) – 7:05
- "Colorblind" (Counting Crows cover) (Adam Duritz, Charlie Gillingham) – 3:47
As you can see there's a broad range of influences... and they are all done great justice. Give it a listen if you are into metal.
