AT&T Can Suck It

Okay get this.

My neighbor is an 88 year old half parallelized marine vet, and at&t is giving crap. He had long distance until January 08 (which he had to call three times to cancel)

They sent him a past due bill with charges since they say his last payment was bounced due to an incorrect account number. But they can not tell me what account number they try to post to, since they dont know. They dont have a copy or image of the check that he mailed to them. But they know that teh bank rejected it.

So we checked with the bank......They never received the check for posting. he had sufficient funds in the account, and he has been using the same checking account for 5 years.

Therefore we call at&t back. After 30 min of waiting, then 6 different departments (and six different stories) we are no where. Henry, my neighbor, is willing to pay the original amount, but not willing to pay the past due amount. at&t actually told me that it is not their problem since the bank rejected the check, BUT the bank never received it!!!!! Also they told me he must have given them the wrong account number on the check. Well check 1109, 1110, 1112 , and 1113 all cleared, but yea check 1111 must have had the back number printed wrong on it. Then they say it was a money order, after correcting them on that, they say HE NEVER CANCELED THE SERVICE. After I explain that he did in Jan the guys actually said "oh yea, i see that now. you right" WTF!!!!!!!!

So right now I am on hold for 25 min waiting for supervisor. I guess I think they will be able to do something. I run a Customer Service Desk for a Broker/ Dealer Home Office and I would be handed if I did half this crap. And I would fire anyone of my employees on the spot if they handled any of thier calls like this.

Sorry to vent. I have just F*ing had it.

Does anyone happen to know anyone that handles at&t long distance billing????

yea he is a really nice guy. Wounded at Iwo Jima and then had a stroke. Has no living family or relatives. We like to help him when we can .. I did finally get this situated, i think until we get another bill. They agreed to eat the fee and we paid the original amount. It only took another hour and half and another transfer to another dept and two supervisors.
