Back to the Grind

Well after my 3 month leave I'm back to work today. I didn't think it would be hard to get back into the groove of things, wrong! I admit it, I have gotten alittle lazy. After sleeping in just about everyday till 9 a.m. it was really hard to get up at 5 a.m. this morning! I've gotten used to not hearing the roar of the engines and vibrations of the boat running, now I have to get used to the noise all over again. Ah well it was nice while it lasted.

My 360 didn't come in before I left so I'll have to settle for playing on the PC till I get back in. What really sucks is that my son will get to play H3 before me! He's loving that, already rubbing it in and bragging how he's gonna be ready to whip me on LIVE when I get home.

You know Mike, we all gotta do stuff we don't want to sometimes. It is always good to check our attitude. But sometimes we need to stop and evaluate our feelings. It is never a good thing to be lead by them but sometimes they can be beneficial to help us take another step. Could it be that a change might be in order. Maybe to start working for a privately owned company? Changing jobs rarely means a pay raise at first but maybe your sideline could help keep you buoyant (especially if your mom and sis is selling stuff on Ebay. Dude, get in on that action!!!)

In 1.5 years I get full retirement benefits. I can't afford to leave. Trust me, I have looked at every possible scenario. I'll be just fine. I've been back two days and am pleased to report I can ignore stuff better than I used to. I just have to detach from that part of it. I don't care about my eval, although I always score very high. I'm also going to start saying no to things more than I used to. My wife even mentioned she may retire at the same time. She's a company lady all the way, but she got screwed out of an $850 a month subsidy because she was passed over for a position she should have gotten. I think she has seen all along, but she's just not as vocal about it as I am. I've become cynical to an extent, but it actually has helped me begin the detachment process.

Focus on your charges, TT. They are the reason you are there.

Good luck with your crew. I'll be rooting for the gang this year. Tell the foreman you know this Okie.... I know what it's like to stare at that poison. I've usually been the one settig it on the table. I'm trying real hard to put an end to it and get my other back. Thanks for the words.
