I just finished Assassin's Creed a few minutes ago and will have to process it a little.

Overall, a great opening of a franchise. The gameplay is beautiful. There is a rich backstory that will allow the writers to really have fun with the world. There are a couple of forseeable twists, but a couple of fun ones along the way that catch you by surprise.

The assassination missions are repetitive to some. I enjoyed them because while the mission styles were the same (aside from pick-pocketing, which was silly easy), the settings would change subtly and you would have to use landmarks and crowds to your advantage.

Is there a cliffhanger ending? Kind of. You come to a satisfying end for Altair the assassin, I think. There are additional threads left hanging, but the story advances through each of the nine assassinations, adding pieces to a larger puzzle.

Gameplay is good, though I got frustrated near one of the end-fights, turned the game off for a day, came back and beat it quickly.

I would give it an 85 or 90 out of a 100. Definitely worth renting or buying. Collecting flags isn't my thing, but I got over 50% on most of the areas wild a modicum of trying.
