A good Wii-kend

Most weekends these days have been relegated to keeping my wife entertained.  She's been off on disability for months now.  Her social interaction sim-bar is really low since she isn't going to work to get her fill of gossip and such.  This weekend I took her over to best buy to pick up a couple dvd's that were on sale for 7$.  There to my surprise stacked about 10 high in a cage were the nintendo Wii. I'd heard about this mythical beast.  I've even played one back before it launched at a friends house.  It was my very first time seeing them on a store "shelf".  I asked permission to buy one.  She hemmed and hawed for a little bit.  Asked me "if you weren't married to my you'd have one already wouldn't you?" , to which she already knew the answer.  (I'd have pre-ordered one).  I had to promise not to get a PS3 as well.  (no loss there).  I also had to buy Mario Party 8.  All conditions I gladly accepted.

One Wii 289$

two wii-motes : 90$

two nun-chucks: 50$

component cables: 20$

Mario Party 8: 60$

USB Wi-Fi Access point: 40$

Waving my arms around like a moron trying to get toad to bash the dice block: priceless.

The wii is such an amazing console.  I really am In love with it.  Ideally I'd like to see more channels in the wii-menu.  The fact that the internet browser is 5$ is a little stupid. Especially in this day and age when a lot of families have computers in the living room (or whatever room the Wii is in).  I think I spent about 30 minutes messing around with the weather channel.  That thing is really fun.  The controls in the news channel are phenomenal.  There are very few things to dislike about the wii.  One of which is the lack of HD support.  480p is nice, but definately low-res.  Also MP8 doesn't even support widescreen!

I'm feeling a bit guilty for buying the Wii though.  I've got so many other games on the go that I have yet to finish. (or barely play these days)

Dead Rising

Dragon Quest 8

Final Fantasy x-2

Final Fantasy XII

Final Fantasy VIII (started it in the winter again)

Paper Mario: 1000 year door

Morrowind (started it again in the fall for the PC)

Ocarina of Time : Master Quest

Sadly I need to start playing shorter games.  That and I need to stop playing games 90% of the way through then picking up something else.  I've also picked up some contract work on the side which eats into my gaming time in general. On top of all of this I have to find some time to play some Magic on MTGO with the clanfolk. Not enough hours.
