Shared on Wed, 05/11/2011 - 10:46For those of you not in 2old4twinkies; My wife and I have started chronicling our experiences as we try to survive The 30 Day Shred. It is a high intensity 30 min work out, every day for 30 days. The workouts are on video, hosted by Jillian Michaels ….I never watched The Biggest Loser so this was my first experience with her.
For this Workout I have made the decision to not check my weight until it is finished. I want to focus on how I feel and look in the mirror without adding a numeric value to my progression until the 30 days is up. Starting weight; 217.Goal at the end of the program; 190.
Day 1, I pushed myself a bit harder than I should (seeing how I have been little more than a fat lump on the couch for the past 10 years). But I was a wrestler, I knew what my body could take and I pushed it as far as it would go…..after the workout, I remembered that this is not the same body I had whenI was 18 and I could push myself that far. So my body decided to remind me that I am no longer in great shape and all those old injuries I suffered are still there, ready to take their revenge on me. Everyt pain returned, my knees, lower back, left hip, both shoulders, right elbow, and even my jaw hurt with a strong ach that kept me awake until an hour before the alarm went off to get up and go to work.
Day 2, we decided that we had to do something to hasten our recovery if we were to do this for 30 days. a little research later and we were off to the store to get Gatorade G3- Recovery; A high protein blend that is designed to help you recover faster between workouts. First stop, was the local chain-drug store….plenty of G2, not a single G3. So we go to the grocery store next door, and bingo, they have it! (we were surprised since this was commonly known as the “old people’s grocery store”). after the workout, (Which actually went easier than the first) we gave the G3 a try, it was really pretty good (for a high protein, electrolyte based drink). This morning, we both were still tired and our muscles were tight and burned, but we actually felt pretty good considering the punishment we put ourselves through.
Now to the issue…..I want to buy a case or 5 of G3…..turns out they don’t sell it in cases. They don’t even sell it in the Gatorade online Store! Granted, $2 a bottle (2 servings per bottle) isn’t what I’d call unreasonable after the benefits is gives, but I’d love to buy it in bulk like you can for every other Gatorade product. But the ease of checking out at a grocery store with 2 cases is so much easier than checking out with 48 individual bottles. So, if anyone knows someone at Pepsi or Gatorade who could tell me how I can bulk order this miracle cure please let me know otherwise I guess I’ll have to track down a driver who is willing to break protocol and sell me some on the side.
Also if you have any interest in joining 2old4twinkies and trying to get up and moving/exercising feel free to shoot me a PM.
