I guess in many ways I can be called a booze hound, but I prefer connoisseur. I love wines, in fact we keep a rather nice selection on hand to match almost any meal we might choose to make.  I also enjoy several nice Ports. I also enjoy several varieties of Bourbon, Rum, Gin, Vodka, and I am currently developing my palette for Scotch (I like black lable, next up is Gold lable).

But in the long run, beer has always held a special place in my drinking routine. I like Guinness and most any dark beer, I am also a big fan of lagers. But given the choice I will normally focus on the micro brews, beer that has not been filtered to death or mainstreamed to the point that I can’t walk into any bar without seeing 3 taps dedicated to it…now there is one exception that I absolutely love, and that is Yuengling. I know that there will be about half of the people reading this thinking (I’ve never heard of it) well of course you haven’t, it’s only available on the east coast (except for Georgia for some reason, at least that’s what I hear). Now, all you light beer drinkers, put down your piss water and drink something real!! It is a fantastic lager brewed a short drive from where I live. And while they make about 8 different varieties, the only one people bother with is the original. It maintains a nice balance between the Hops and barley, while it is filtered, it does maintain a very full flavor.  Just hit up any bar on the east coast and ask if they have a Yuengs and Wings special, if they say no, go to a different bar!!

Now that I have spilled the beans on my favorite, it’s your turn. Tell me what your favorite is and why. Even if it is (*blech*) Miller Light.

And if everyone is good, I may have another “Hate Me” blog later.

it's about damn time there was another yuengling drinker on this site! +1 just because of that! so obviously yuengling is my beer of choice, i was born and bred on coors and when i got turned on to this beer it just tasted better, almost kind of a fruity aftertaste to me and i've never looked back, tho i do slum and drink mich ultra every now and again ;) jack daniels is my whiskey of choice, with or without ice and with coke....it's got a sensual flavor and what i like to call a "clean" buzz.......i'll slum it up with some Evan Williams every so often and Wild Turkey just for shots, well, that is thee only shot to me.

I'm more for the stouts, if I choose to have something alcoholic. Murphy's Red is my favorite, but Guinness hits the spot too. If I truly, truly want something with a kick, I buy myself a bottle off Glenfiddich Correan Reserve, which is however a whiskey.

My wife and My all-time favorite is Tooheys Old Black beer. We drank it on our honeymoon in Sydney. Unfortunately I havent found it anywhere in the US. My favorite US beers are Moose Drool from Big Sky Brewing in Missoula MT and Black Butte Porter from I think Rogue River Brewing in Oregon..although guinness is always good. Back in the 90's in Seattle was the best for microbrews..even your shitty dive bars had 15 beers on tap and none of them were bud. Probobly still the same now, but I dont live there anymore. When nobody is watching I do drink MGD and Pacifico tho.

I just discovered Young's Double Chocolate Stout at BevMo. Guinness is still my favorite but I love a cold glass of Young's. I have also been trying to get into scotch. I am working my way through a bottle of Dewar's White Label (was told to start with that one instead of any of the 'better' ones) and the more I drink, the more I like it so I guess it's working so far.

Meh, I like Crown Royal, but most whiskeys(Jamasons especially) have a bit too much of a Sour Mash flavor for my taste....I'll take Bourbon over whiskey any day.
