An odd occurrence…

My sister is coming down for the weekend and is pushing us to go out with her tonight…no real reason mentioned….she called (that’s the biggest reason to know that something is up…) said some stuff about mothers and fathers days and how she was unable to visit for them…..but she came down about 3 times since then with no mention of it…..all it took was one look at my wife and I knew we were both thinking the same thing….my sister is pregnant…has to be….she could never keep a secret and it’s way too easy to see that she’s trying to hide something she’s excited about…

This whole thing worries me…

Reason 1, if she has a kid she’s going to expect me to hold it….um…yeah, you all know I don’t do the baby thing.... I have a tendency to drop things….and it’s not about clumsiness, it’s an issue I had with some old nerve damage…

Reason 2, Babies and kids don’t like me….at least until they are old enough to appreciate cool electronics and video games….then they are tolerable…

Reason 3, she’s going to hate me because as soon as it can talk, I’ll start teaching it Republican ideals, conservative buzz words, and to ask everyone “Who is John Gault?” (Seriously, my sister will never speak to me again after that one).

Reason 4, my entire family will quadruple their efforts to get us to have kids…that’s the really annoying part.   We told my family we would discuss it again when we turn 30, and when we discuss it, it will be between the 2 of us, and they will have no say…..we are not 30 yet, hence we are not discussing it….I’m not sure why they don’t understand that….

Is it sad that I can't really understand why people want to have kids?  the last thing I want is another version of me running around...

well, we'll find out tonight....and may have to make preparations accordingly...

BTW, I hope to but a major dent on finishing the basement, so with any luck I’ll start brewing after next weekend….assuming we are done sanding drywall and at least have a small portion of the floor finished.....I guess I should post photos of the basement as it takes form to show off the gameroom and man-cave (is it still a man-cave if my wife is a gamer too?)

Don't worry about dropping the baby - just sit down on the couch before you hold it. Problem solved, you've done your uncle duty. Off topic, I just noticed that you are from Harrisburg, do you still live there? My fiance is from Harrisburg and her parents still live there. We were just in town at the end of June.

RE: Reason #1: I do not have nerve damage and I will NOT hold any baby...they smell funny and they drool...yuck. RE: Reason #2: Kids don't like me either...and I am thankful RE: Reason #3: John Galt is related to Objectivism, not republican...just tell your sister that and she will probably be confused...she may never discover what Objectivism really is... RE: Reason #4: Tell your families that you and the wife have decided to single handedly attempt to save the earth's resources by not breeding another consumer/waster/mouth-breather

@Bas...sounds good to me....but I'm not sure my sis will buy Objectivism...she is overeducated and majored in Political Science before her JD. But she HATES Ayn Rand....and my wife and I LOVE Atlas Shrugged.
