Odd feeling about V-day

does anyone else feel like anything you do for V-day is not enough? like I'm saying, "yes my dear, my one and only, I love you $15....because I ran down to the local gas station and bought you some crappy flowers that are already half dead".....or worse yet, if it comes down to the feeling "love you $5,000 tennis bracelet...but there's only $35 in my entire bank account...."

This year, I asked her what she would want for V-day...since I have always spent more than I could afford to, she said, "Clean the house....that's all that I want"...ok, not a problem...so now I feel like crap because I was going to clean the house anyway, because today was my day off, and I always do that on my day off.  So here I sit, feeling like I did nothing even though I did exactly what she said she wanted for V-day...

I know, I know, it's the gesture, and the feelings that count....

Valentines day is a bullshit hallmark holiday designed to sell crappy candy and greeting cards. I don't subscribe to it and fortunately neither does my wife. In my opinion if you need a day on the calendar to remind you to show the one you love affection then there is an issue... Hallmark can suck it.. :-)

heh, my sentiments exactly. i can't believe the number of blogs i've seen about v-day. just another day and if you treat your woman right all year long than every day is v-day as far as i'm concerned

We treat each other to a spa resort to get pampered together. We do this every chance we get. The only difference for Vday is we have more chocolate. = ) We feel it's about treating each other well all year long. One time we couldn't go off, so we stayed home. We made chocolate chip cookies together and back rubs. It was one of my fave times ever. AMan sometimes the simplest thing can be the best gift. Hope you and your babe have a wonderful time. It doesn't need to cost $15 or $500.

I SWEAR I HAVE NO HIDDEN AGENDA! And it's an even better Valentine's Day becuase you did exactly what I wanted and did not anticipate that I would want you to go above and beyond (which always ends up pissing me off anyway). Happy Valentine's Day dear!
