Well, I had some fun this weekend. Started off Saturday with a bit of gaming, and made some Ham and Bean soup, had the parents, sister, and bro-in-law over for the Penn State Game. then we all went to Hershey Park…rode all but the newest coaster…it broke down while we were in line so we decided to run back and ride the Storm Runner a second time….we had to ride a second time because the first time was such a shock we didn’t remember it.

This is a coaster that focuses so heavily on negative G’s, it’s crazy. First hill hits negative Gs at the top, and again coming out of the loop, and then something I’ve never experienced before….a negative G corkscrew. That was a strange experience…but getting off after the first ride we learned an important lesson….when a coaster advertises one of the fastest accelerations at the beginning…don’t put your hands up before it starts moving…some girl got hurt when the acceleration yanked her arms behind her.
But after all these crazy coasters we rode the scariest rind in the park…the Ferris Wheel!!! Yeah laugh it up…but when you cram 6 full grown adults into one car, and you ask the operator if 6 people of our size can ride in one car and he responds…”meh, we’ll give it a shot…after all, what could happen….."yeah that makes you wonder. As the ride came to it’s blazing fast, full speed (about 3rpm) someone, clutching to the center pole of the pod, let out a squeaky “we’re all gonna die!!”…and meant it….but in that person’s defense, the ride was making a lot of odd noises that we didn’t hear before we got on…and after the coasters, it is a bit un nerving to be on a ride with no belts, straps, or lap bars.
After all just a few months ago some crazy person got in a fight with his girlfriend and managed to climb out on the roof of one of the Ferris Wheel pods, threatening to jump…he didn’t, but still...

One of our other favorite coasters…

Oh, I love Hershey Park! Unfortunately I live in Florida now and can no longer go...I did not even know about that new coaster. I am a "woodie" person, so my favorites were Lightning Racer and The Comet - love the rickity sound and feel. Though that one across from the wild mouse almost broke my neck (can't remember the name). Thanks for sharing! Note to self: dig out those old photos from the roller coasters...

Bas, Ah, the Wild Cat, an old fassion feel from a new build woodie. I love wooden coasters too, the feel, whe way the track moves with you, the sound....but as far as a pure thrill, and since I am a speed freak, I have to stand by the metal monsters.
