movies and zombie plans....

Well, this morning came with a hard decision, one of those quagmire that could determine your frame of mood for the rest of the day….pick one, and miss the end because I had to go to work, or pick the other, knowing that my favorite part is already over, but I will get to watch the ending….yes, as I got out of bed, JollyRodgerX was already awake and she was flipping through the premium channels….my choices…Children of Men, which had just started, or MST3K the Movie….and we just missed them assembling the Interocitor….well, we picked MST3K and even got in some gaming after it ended….

Oddly enough, I forgot to add the MST3K Movie to my favorite movies list from yesterday…I guess I’ll eventually have to expand on that….but that won’t be for a while.

Now I am doing my absolute best to avoid politics in my blog since my mild mental breakdown…and I am going to stick with that….no matter how much the government pisses me off…so, instead I will pose a question to the 2O2P community…
This is a fun little exercise in deductive/creative logic….based on Brooks’ The Zombie Survival Guide(I’m sure you’ve all read it….and if you haven’t….read it now), what is your Zombie Plan?
My personal plan….. If possible, wait till winter…provided we have a location that is secure and enough supplies to last till then…or if not, leave immediately. Traveling by horseback (yes I can get access to horses) and foot, armed with a small caliber semi auto rifle and a shotgun, I plan to make our way from Harrisburg, through the lower population areas of northern PA, and eastern/central New York and hopefully pickup a boat on the St Laurence River….yes, I know there are TONS of heavily populated areas on that river, but if we only use the motor to keep our distance from the shore, let the water carry us, and not drop anchor(1), with enough food and some reserve fuel we can hopefully make it to the Island of Newfoundland, where we can find a low population area to refuel or better yet, find a sail boat or medium- large fishing trawler (loaded with as much fuel and food as possible to trade for safe passage if necessary) capable of making it to Greenland where the harsh winters(2) and sparse population will hold off any zombie outbreak…assuming the outbreak has spread that far, and we aren’t’ killed “just in case” as we try to make landfall. Hopefully that can be prevented by making radio contact prior to departing Newfoundland. If Newfoundland is unaccommodating, we will try to make our way to the Hudson Bay area.

(1)   as pre the guide, Zombies can’t swim, but they can climb anchor chains
(2)   Since Zombies are “dead” they have no body heat and while they don’t freeze to death, they do freeze.

Yes it is a goofy concept to have a zombie plan, but as far as how to deal with any situation where you have to leave home and find a safe place, it is a great exercise should the worst ever happen….say, a massive outbreak of a nasty fatal disease…where populations offer the risk of infection as well as the risk of raiders or anyone who won’t hesitate to kill you for whatever you might have.
So, what’s your Zombie plan?

I live on Long Island with 3 million other people. That's far too many zombies to try to fight thru. My only hope is to steal a large boat and sail south and find a carribean island....
