The week….yup it’s only half way into Monday and it already sucks. I have Dante’s Inferno, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, and a few other games all calling to me…..come play me, your work isn’t that important anyway, you might as well come home and do something you want to do…..Darn you videogames, I already used up a majority of my leave because of you, and here you are whispering bad thoughts to me again.

One of my co-workers texted me this weekend saying he found a place selling AR-15 stripped receivers for $58 a piece….so, in a short discussion we have come to the decision that we are each going to buy 5 (give or take a few).   Why? Let’s just say that the Brady bill gets resurrected….that $58 receiver instantly becomes a $580 receiver, but what if it doesn’t’ get renewed? I get to build 5 different AR-15 load outs.   I already know I want to build a stock A2, but I also want one fully loaded, ACOG and all……then a sniper build…..I’ve priced parts kits for each, and while the sniper will not be cheap, the A2 parts kit (not including the receiver should run $510….not a bad price to build a gun that would normally cost me $900-$1200 already built.   But for the sake of saving some money, I could build a .22lr conversion rifle for target shooting, then even (if approved by the wife) drop the $3,000 for a single shot .50bmg upper….darn you AR-15 and your tempting customizability!

I’m still on the prowl for a paintball gun, though it looks like it may be a few months until I can get into it heavy since we are still spending a lot of time working on finishing the basement. We have the sanding finished in 3/4 of it, and are looking to wrap it all up this weekend (less the final touch ups on a special addition or two.) So, we have to start looking for paint…..and to my lively wife; you know I am HORRIBLE at picking colors. I’m the guy who was wearing blue pin-stripe pants, a striped black shirt, and brown shoes (did you know there’s some rule about matching kinds of vertical stripes? Because I sure didn’t) and thought I looked just fine, do you really want my input on paint samples? I trust you to pick the right ones just as much as I trust myself to screw it up.

So its cheaper to get an AR-15 in parts then put together a load-out for yourself? I'm interested in getting one eventually. Can't afford it right now. But I'd like to know where I need to look. My grandfather has a repair and sellers license and can probably get me the parts at his cost.

At that price I would jump all over it. One of these days I am going to get one. building is the way to go if you have the know how. Not sure I have the know how.

The co-worker who found the deal is retired from the army, he worked on the firing ranges so he knows his stuff on proper assembly and said he'd make sure I didn't make any mistakes. one of the best places I've seen for parts and receivers is www.rguns.net
