Here again

What a weekend, First off, we finally have all of the drywall hung in the basement (Wohoo!!)!! Which means we are closing in on my greatest dislike….sanding drywall. Yuck. but we are also actively starting our diets, it’s one of those no carb diets….Yuck again.

Then I went to a funeral. He was a close friend of mine back in elementary school.  Of all the people I run into from my past, he was the only one who ever looked happy to see me, it might not have meant much to most people, but to me it was.  9 months ago he had an accidental overdose of prescription pain killers. It wasn’t a suicide attempt, he just took too much. No one knew he had a problem, not even his wife. His OD put stopped his heart for an unknown period of time, it they were able to revive him but he just wasn’t really ‘there’ anymore.  His wife was by his side every day, working with him and helping to bring him back. She did make some progress, but on Sunday the 29th he developed an aggressive infection and on Tuesday he died.  He was 28.

 I went to the memorial service for him, along with about 1200 other people. The memorial was catered with a band….and a priest who used the opportunity to damn us all for not being members of his church, call us all uncontrollable sinners and then asked us all to join his church, to him it had nothing to do with our friend. But of all the people that were there, I only recognized 2 people, it made me really glad that I could be there for him.

After that my wife played Dragon Age for 10 hours strait easily passing me and my level 9 rogue and beating several bosses in a way that made me look like a friggin’ n00b. I’m so proud….and somewhat embarrassed at the same time.
