Gander mt. must die.

Wait, no, that is not what I meant.....Apparently Gander Mountain does not have a twitter for me to complain to.

What I wanted to complain about.....Yesterday I went to Gander Mt. to look for a new pocket pistol....I was thinking about a Walther PP99 or PPK, possibly a Mini Desert Eagle or Beretta Tomcat....and since I was the only person at the gun counter, I figured one of the 8 clerks there would help me.....I was there for 40 min, asking for assistance only to be told to wait my turn....as the only customer there I figured I did wait till MY turn.....but I guess not.   40 min. no help.  I was ready to drop about $1000 on a new sidearm, extra mags, holster, about 1000 rds of ammo....but oh well....the last time he told me to mind my manners I loudly told him to F.O. and walked away.   On my way out, I was blocked by the manager( I assume he was atleast, he never really said) who asked me why I was seen "harassing" several of his clerks....I gave him one hell of a bitchfit, told him what I was prepared to spend TODAY. and told him I was taking my business elsewhere, AGAIN. and this time I would not be back to suffer their abuse....he had the gall to offer me a $10 gift card toward a future purchase if I would be willing to stay and purchase my gun from them, (wow, 1% off, pinch me I'm dreaming)....I told him that this being the 5th time I've tried to shop there this year only to have them be too good for my money, I'm taking ALL of my business, guns, ammo, and gunsmithing  elsewhere (as I have been forced to do numerous times). Since it was Dec 21st, and I was about the only person in the store, he may want to considder adjusting the way they do business before they get shut down.

I did send a nice long email to their corp HQ describing the event, but posting it here makes me feel better.

Big chains are disappointing, though Cabela's seems the best of the bunch. After being in the exact same situation I always go to the small Maw and Paw stores now. They have or can get whatever you want. The price can be less or $20 more but the service is always SOOO much better.

Yeah, it will be a bit of a drive to my new supplier, they have a tiny store with about 20X more stock than my local Gander Mt.'s gun section and it's alot closer than our Cabela's. www.Tropgunshop.com it's where I bought my first hunting rifle many many years ago.

We don't love them ho's. The staff at BPS Nashville is annoying helpful up until they get more people at the gun counter than they have associates in that section. The flyfishing section are a little more lax, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes you just want to touch $700 flyrods without being bothered b people asking if you're going to pay for them. Local shops are a mixed bag.
