Shared on Mon, 04/13/2009 - 13:44The end of this week, my office is moving to our new reorganization location….it’s odd how much tension is in the air….and I’m still the only one looking forward to the ensuing chaos….now I am in favor of the changes that will be going through….but fundamentally I am against the reasons for the change…. But I don’t want to get into that…and you don’t want me to either, because this would be a MASSIVE post.
No, what I am focused on today is a bit of a confession…I have been visiting another forum….I feel like I’m betraying 2old2play by splitting my time, even though the other forum has nothing to do with videogames….and everything to do with being a Pentax Camera Fanboy…but I realize how low of a level I am compared to these guys….when I talk about looking for an affordable lens with fair quality they will give great recommendations….for lenses in the $2,500 range….um….yeah, that’s not affordable….I’m talking like the $150-200 range….and they laugh at me…. I ask about photo editing software, they start talking the $300 updates to software that I should already own, and if I don’t, it only costs about $1,000….um…yeah, I’m talking about free download stuff…..what part of “AMATURE who takes 10-20 pictures a week(mostly of his cats)” don’t they understand??…..
I try to tell them that when I look for a new accessory, my first question is “how much does it cost?” My second is normally, “really, That much? Is there an off brand version?” my third, “is there an even cheaper Korean knock off I can buy in a sketchy back alley somewhere? And finally, “OMG what’s that!!!” as I run screaming from the store so they don’t see how much of a cheap SOB I am compared to the professionals. And the Pentax are supposed to be the cheaper versions…. Its insane.
