The entrepreneur, I am not

I tried to map out the idea of selling my confections that was mentioned by Moseley….well, the idea has stuck. I have the recipes, I think I have figured out most of the shipping issues I’d run into…..but there are a few issues, primarily the fact that I can’t work out a business model for it that will make money based on the folume that I could produce and reliably sell. The accounting is sound, but between the required insurance and permits, it just won’t work. damn.

 

But on the funnier side...

So far the Ghetto speak tally sheet for today has been going nuts. The woman (who is 33 years old and white) in the cubicle next to me has racked up the following. (the one from my last blog who accused me of drugging the cookies)

 

 

Number of times she has said “Mah BabyDaddy”; 27

 

Number of times she has said “Welfare check”; 15

 

Number of her boyfriends arrested this week; 2

 

Number of boyfriends (or "BabyDaddys")currently in prison; 6

 

Number of times she mentioned the drive by shooting that happened on her street but didn’t make the news; 12

 

Number of boyfriends arrested for their involvement in past drive by shootings; 3

 

Number of times she spouted ghetto gibberish I couldn’t understand; 18

 

Number of times she bragged about her daughter being picked to have her picture on a pamphlet about child abuse: 2 (that occured 2 years ago)

 

Number of times she bragged about her other daughter being picked to have her picture on a pamphlet about malnourishment; 4 (that also occured 2 years ago)

 

Number of calls to utility companies explaining why she hasn’t paid them since June; 3

 

Number of those calls in which she explained how important it was that she spent $900 on new outfits and why that was more important than paying them; 3

 

Number of ghetto profanities she spouted at each of them because they were still going to shut down her gas, electric, and water; 22

 

Number of banks she has screamed ghetto profanities at because they won’t give her (another) loan; 5

 

How many more times since I started writing this that she has said “Mah BabyDaddy”; 6

 

 

 

 

I’m learning how important it is to have someone around whose life is so messed up (by normal standards) you can’t help but feel better about the (in comparison) little things you have to deal with every day.
