at a crossroads

the watch idea failed, so I ended taking my wife out to dinner for her birthday and she was happy.

But tomorrow, we have a few decissions to make.  A house has recently hit the market in our area.  not quite our area, but close enough that we are going to stop by and take a look at it.   The property is a 7 acre streatch of land in the middle of a very nice neighborhood, the foreclosure has the price set at $150,000 under the assessed value. we have maybe 2 days to decide if we wat to try to snag it.  the change would be massive.  We would be leaving an area we know for a place we have only visited when we had no other choice, not because it is a bad area, quite the opposite, it is a VERY nice area, we just don't have any reason to go there.  the price on the land is about $30,000 less than our house's value, but because we live in a small association controlled development, we don't have much freedom, but we also don't have any lawn care or snow removal concerns while the new place would require the purchase of even the most basic lawn care equipment, weekends mowing grass, and a bit of work on the 3 bedroom 2.5 bath house (an upgrade from our current house by 1 bedroom, .5 baths, and almost 1000 sq ft.  But it will involve basically uprooting our lives and moving about 20 miles away from both of our families.....on the bright side, I am friends with 2 of the 5 families who would be our new neighbors, and the property is not only large enough to shoot on, but less than half a mile away is a large sportsman's club.

I'm not sure what to do, and don't have much time to decide.

Good Luck on the decision and don't forget all the start up fees for all utilities as well ... But remember not gained or lossed if a foot is not taken forward, but the unknown would always remain ...

If you can afford it, go for it, you'll love it. 20 miles from family? That's nothing, it's hardly an inconvenience.

@nochinoi, well, since we currently live less than a mile from her parents, 3 of my cousins, and 3 miles away from my parents, 20 miles seems like a continent (and one river) away. but you are right, it's not like we would be changing states.
