Carpet time.

We ordered carpet for our basement. Friggin’ expensive carpet, I mean it REALLY overshot my anticipated expense by about $1,000. But it’s getting done. So with any luck, in 3 weeks I’ll have furnished basement pictures to share and can start working on the Secret Man Cave.

I have this perfect image in my mind on what I want to do for the final phase of the basement project. And I’m planning on doing this whole phase on my own (I hope my wife will help, but I won’t make her.) it will be a good test of my construction skills to hit this solo. Yes we are almost finished with a large portion of the project, but to keep this room pure, it will be just me. No outside suggestions, shortcuts, or changes based on what would be “easier” or “better for resale” (although I will consider any suggestion that starts of with “you know what would be awesome?...") this is my room. (and my wife’s; yes she’ll have knowledge of the key code (yes you heard me key coded door.) Additional temp and humidity control and air filtration, key coded entry, 30min fire barrier walls, proper lighting…the perfect space for me

I want a place that will be the perfectly comfortable room, a place where I can go to read and not get cold or sweaty, soundproof, a place I can call ideal, and completely private….my own personal Oval office and a place I can put all of those valuable collectables I have amassed where they are visible and not hidden in boxes….my antique toys, our wine collection, collectable books, ect. Our own personal library, art gallery, museum. And most importantly, no TV. Not even a cable jack. A place we can go to forget everything.

But thats a few weeks away.

I did the samething, took me all of 5 years but well worth the wait. For game nights- I have a projector with a 130 inch screen, full surround and mood lights.. also have a sony 50 inch for watching sports during gaming, and another tv 42 inch lcd for other people to play on when they are over. I also started to collect DVD's- have around 4500 now and still growing. I have recently added a custom made poker table, and a 8 foot air hockey table. Still trying to get a pool table and a couple of upright arcade games. I am just starting to build a custom jukebox to blast the sound thought out the house. Warning- Once you start your man cave, you will never be done! Good luck B
