Beer Recipe….

I am trying to set up a place to start working before I grab my gear from storage, but while I do that I’ve started working on a recipe….I’m not sure if our local home brew store carries all of this, but I should be able to track down each of these online...

Here is what I have so far…I’m going to have to do some tasting before I figure how much I want to use of each.

Hallertauer Hops
Tettnanger Hops
Vienna Malt
Belgian Pilsner Malt (I know I should be using a Wheat Malt, but I have a targeted flavor and I’m going to see if I can get it…)
Wyeast yeast

I’m planning on working a 4 stage cooking of the Mash, I want to also try a few days of cold-conditioning at the end of the final fermentation and clarification…then another few days of cold-condition lagered for 4-6 weeks.

So, here’s a bit of a Quiz….based on this recipe…what kind of beer would it appear that I’m making? (and no it’s not Coores or Budweiser)

**hint**….it shares a name with a dialect of a popular europenan language, has a type of beer glass named after it, and is a natural descendant of the beer called “White” in the dialect that shares this beers name…(CodeMonkey should be able to guess it just based on these hints) I’ll post another blog around lunch time with the answer…

@Geekboy, closer than you think. But think obscure Altbier and geographically a bit to the North East

*waves back at Char!* I'd love to but under PA state law I'd go to jail for a very long time for making whisky....not saying I don't know HOW to make it....or that I can't get the equipment to make it.....just that I'd go to jail and then my 360 would get lonely...and my wife might miss me too....

I've been ordering online from midwestsupplies.com. From my noob's perspective, they've been excellent. As for your recipe, I want to guess some sort of bock, but am failing to come up with anything better than that.

@Stridog, Wow, very very close, this would take this beer and add the Cold-conditioning and extra clearification...they are the same family, the same overall brew style, even the same hops...and yes the "White" was refering to the Weißbiere... Final hint before I take off for lunch.... the name of this beer is actually in full name of the yeast I plan to use....so the yeast's full name is Wyeast _______ yeast.

No, not worth going to jail for. I have a beer that was given to me so I could make a dough recipe. It’s called Weihenstephaner. I think it’s a Bavarian beer. It’s probably not the best use for it, but oh what the heck. My friend is very very into beer. I know he likes dark beer, but that's as much beer info as I want to know...lol Have fun making your brew. = )

@Char there's nothing wrong with beer bread...I tend to makeatleast one loaf of bread out of each batch of beer I brew.
