Almost got Pinched

Yes, someone in my office put their life at risk today by trying to pinch me….they snuck up behind me, motioned for the person I was talking to keep me distracted and they moved forward…..I said, “if you pinch me, I reserve the right to punch you”.

The lesson, never try to pinch a person who;
A, doesn’t like to be touched, EVER.
B, really won’t hesitate to punch you, and
C, qualifies for points A and B and can clearly see you sneaking up behind them in the reflection of the chrome coffee maker.

I don’t even know this person, I know they work in my building but I couldn’t tell you their name if I had to….so I’m sure they don’t know me, and what kind of person pinches a complete stranger?

So as you can all tell by the above event, I’m not wearing green today…I fight to be my own person, not a sheep, and nothing screams sheep like dressing like everyone feels I should, going out to a bar like everyone else and getting drunk amid a crowd of cheering people trying to be Irish. If you like to do that, go right ahead, but (unlike the people in my office) I’m sure you realize using the argument “but everyone else is doing it” is not the way to get me to go to the bar with you.

I do understand some peoples’ need to have friends at work, and to go hang out with them after work, but I am here to work. I don’t like my job, so why would I want to spend time with these people while I’m trying to forget about my horrible day? Just because it’s a holiday, that won’t change. I put on a smile and play nice at Christmas, I let them hide an egg or two in my cubicle at Easter, I even smile and say thank you when they give me cards at valentines day, but I’m not going out to an over crowded bar with these people so I can drink crappy booze for twice the cost of the good stuff I have at home and talk about how much work sucks with the people who help make it suck.

Now if any member of this site said to meet them for a drink, sure, I’ll go, we have something in common, I’d buy you a drink or two…we are even trying to make it to the LAN this year…but I know you and like you, I know these people, I know where they’ve been, I've heard their stories, and honestly it scares me to be this close to some of them.

My son had a hard time finding green to wear. I told him we are Scotch-Irish so we don't have to wear green - He replied that wouldn't keep him from getting pinched. lol

Ok, first of all, I never heard of the "Pinch someone not wearing green" rule. Hmmm....my boss isn't wearing green and I have been looking for a way to get fired. Second of all, my loving husband, I am half irish, not a sheep!

yes dear, but being half Irish gives you a reason to celebrate your heritage...and if there was a German heritage holiday I would celebrate that with pride....so you are not a sheep.....and no you can't pinch me for not wearing green.
