DAY 17!

So the past week got away from me a little.  I had every intention of posting here each day last week, and never did.  Things are starting to come hard and fast as far as stuff to do.  And, of course, Murphy's Law would be fully enforced as the past week and the coming two weeks at work are shaping up to be the busiest I have seen in months.  My secretary just emailed me what she has on my schedule for this week.  As usual, there was stuff on there I had forgotten about.  And, as usual, there was stuff I had on my Blackberry I had forgotten to tell her about.  And, once again, I have to be in two places at once more than once this week.  You would think I would eventually learn my lesson.  But no, I remain steadfastly hardheaded.  Oh well.  I will survive.

This morning my wife pointed something out to me that, for whatever reason, I had yet to realize.  We have 17 days left until our trip.  No big whoop.  I was aware of that.  What I didn't realize, though, was that we now have no more weekends at home for the next 6 weeks!  What the.....?  This coming weekend at my folks(picking up their dog).  The next at her mom's(dropping off the dogs).  The following three in Europe.  The next at her mom's(picking up the dogs).  As always seems to be the case, I am going to need a vacation after my vacation.

In here, and to her face, I have done a great deal of talking about, and making fun of, my wife's lists and lists of lists.  I will now graciously eat my big fat plate of crow.  In preparing for a trip of this magnitude, there is so much that has to be done.  You throw out packing and making all of the arrangements (trains, hotels, flights, scheduled tours), and there is still so much to do.  I now appreciate all of those lists.  We spent this entire past weekend doing stuff from those lists.  As we went from one place to the next, I was struggling to remember where we needed to go next.  I can not imagine trying to keep up with all of that over the weekend, much lass the past 6 weeks or 6 months, without those lists.  Now granted, the master list of all of the lists as well as the schedule of when to complete each list as well as the schedule of when to complete each thing on each list is a little excessive.  Chalk that one up to OOCAD.  But it works for her, and it keeps me in line.
