With the Wii remote and in the future Microsoft's Natal and Sony's motion controllers, motion control gaming seems to be more popular than ever. As we ooooh and awww over these new devices, a lot of people don't know that motion control in gaming has been around for almost 30 years now. Pretty much every motion control device has been a failure until recently with the Wii. So why don't we take a look back and see the ancestors of today's motion controllers.

Thought I would start off the celebration with this weird ghost car commercial.  Whoever uploaded this commercial didn't know how to make the sound louder, so you might need to turn it up a bit.

My father who is a retired Houston police officer runs a charity bowling tournament in the Houston area.  It's called the Houston Area Police and Fire Bowling Tournament.  Any retired police or firemen with a USBC sanction card are eligible(you can purchase a sanction card at the tournament if you don't have one).  Proceeds from the tournament will go to Assist the Officer Foundation and Last Alarm Club.

Been a little busy lately so I haven't had much time to work on my game but here's a few screenshots I quickly put together.  They are just to show what the various features will look like.

This is what the Mode7 overworld map will look like compared to a map without Mode7.

Mode7 - The map is scaled at an angle and I added a horrizon to give it a "3D" feel.  As you walk north and south, the everything dissapears under the horizon.
