What is wrong with people?

I agree, maybe 25% of our neigborhood was open for ToT. I was waltzing around with my lightsaber in a threatening manner... lol..\r \r We leave a bowl of candy on the steps for kids while we are out. Every year the kids are great, they only take one or two.

Same here. And I have a ton of candy left. I think less than 10 people came by.

Totally agree.... Taking the little one around the neighborhood last night was ridiculous......only 8 houses out of about 40 were home. Not 1 person came to our place

man it was the same up here in the d, it was vacant, we bought 40 dollars worth of candy and still have a whole bucket full, and we were giving giant handfuls away. hardly any kids and hardly any light. very disappointed.

more and more people everyyear choose not to participate,.. most either dont care anymore or goto Trunk-N-Treats held by churches or local organizations.\r \r I dont goto trunk n treats,.. id rather help keep the old tradition of trick or treat going. when my kids are old enough to go by theirselves no one around here will do it. sucks

Me and my girlfriend stay home and watch movies every year so that we can pass out candy. We don't have kids, but like to see the neighbors' kids dressed up. We did have one jackass teenager come by this year who had no costume. When I asked where his costume was, he pulled a mask out of his shirt. Punk couldn't even bother to put it on. That kind of pissed me off, but oh well.

Yeah my block was dark except for a couple of houses. Me and my g/f were handing out candy...we have a huge bowl of candy left and that's after telling the kids to grab as much as they wanted towards the end. I would say there had to have been more kids not wearing costumes and older than the younger kids. This one group of kids didn't have costumes or bags for their candy..they just took the candy and opened it and ate it, probably throwing the wrapper on the ground when they left.

So yup, my lights are always out on Halloween, print up a card and put it on my porch and you'll be leaving with a limp.

I gave out about 100 bags of M&M's last night. I think about 10-15 of the kids were actually from my neighborhood. The best ones were the drive by ToT. Minivan with about 5-10 kids rolls up they all pile out hit a few houses the climb back in and roll on down the street. It is nothing like when I was a kid, but I still make a point to be home and hand out candy every year.

Azure, just curious, how come you do not participate?

I actually go as far as to rake some leaves on to my porch... Make it look like no one lives here. Because I'm a grumpy old bastard, and I want to be left alone. If I liked kids, I'd have some... but I don't.

We don't participate but if we did I sure wouldn't take my kids door to door. Not with all the sicko's out there now adays. I wouldn't feel safe, I think a lot of people are going with parties instead of door to door.

We went around the hood last night. Kids carry candy, adults carry beer woot\r \r As I found last night, those places with the lights out are a good place to sneak pee some of the beer out. :D\r \r There is a guy in my neighbor hood that starts building sets in his yard a few weeks in advance. The kids don't go to the door, they go through a grace yard obstacle course until they have to find the candy packages in a coffin. The guy must spend a lot. He hands out packages each with a can of coke, chips full chocolate bars. That's the spirit!!\r \r

We had kids coming to the door from about 6:30pm until almost 9pm. The little ones are always first and you get the dumb teenagers by the end of the night. We only had about 10 pieces of candy left.

Why don't I like to participate in giving out candy on Halloween?People like Soup who feel that I am somehow obligated to give out candy to their children on Halloween. If I want to do it you should be grateful for my doing so, and if I don't wish to be bothered for whatever reason, you should respect my wishes and move along to the next house.\r \r 80% of the kids that came to my door when I did give it out, were not in costume and did not say trick or treat. They would toss on a football jersey etc, knock on your door and stick out their bags.\r \r I also don't participate in giving out candy for a few other reasons. \r \r 1) We usually have an adult party on Halloween, and having children showing up at the door every few minutes is a pain in the ass.\r \r 2) My own children don't trick or treat any longer, I use the money that I used to buy the neighborhood children candy with and allow them to buy their own. This way, they can get what they want safely and I can make sure that I approve of what they are getting. \r \r 3) With all of the parties at home, school and their friends houses during Halloween week, they get plenty of costumed fun.So there's no need for a night of begging for candy from people who ignore your kids the other 364 days out of the year. \r \r So in closing, call me an ass if you like but I simply don't see the holiday in the same light as you do. \r \r

My triplets are too little to get Halloween. Plus it's their bedtime when it's prime trick or treating time. My three old didn't go trick or treating but she had a ton of candy from her day care halloween party. She didn't miss it.\r \r When my wife and I first moved into the neighborhood we had candy because I thought it would be a great way to meet our neighbors. We were stuck with a ton of candy because there just aren't that many kids on the block. Plus with all the parties and such to ensure the safety of kids, I don't think many parents take kids out anymore.\r \r I don't fault people for leaving their lights out. To be honest I don't think it's safe to take kids door to door anymore even with a parent or designated adult.

Umm... I didn't say I felt you needed to be obligated to participate.\r \r I just don't understand why up to 50% of people don't.\r \r Seeing as the majority of those people do have kids who do participate, I fee that those specific people are obligated since their children are participating.

Was talking to my father in law today and he said no kids came by his house.Then again he had his light off and hasnt opened his front door in years.You knock on the door then wait for the garage door to open then come in that way.yes hes a little weird.\r \r Azure you made a lot of sense sry bout the ass thing.:-)

I think parents are more cautious about where they go, and whose doors they knock on. There's a lot more crazy shit happening in the world, or we just hear about it more frequently....\r \r When I was a kid, our neighborhood would be FLOODED with kids. People pretty much just left their doors open because just as soon as one group of kids left, you had another group coming up the driveway.\r \r

Folks keep talking about the safety of trick or treating, about all the weirdos out there... but really how often does anything actually happen?Did you see anything on the news about bad things happening to trick or treaters this year? Anywhere in the country? I can't remember the last time I did. I'm too lazy to check out snopes, but I thought all the poison/razorblade laced candy stories were false.\r \r The world didn't change, our perception of it did.\r \r And I decided after this year, we aren't giving out candy anymore. We only got three kids (8-12 yrs old) and none of them bothered with a costume.\r \r Too lazy, too unimaginative, too cool to dress up. But not too cool to take free candy. \r \r Little bastards.

Why do you spam blogs? Why can't you combine these or at least wait some time between posting? \r \r After reading your complaints about getting thumbs down, I would say thats the reason you get them and not the cartoons you post. Hell, they are indecipherable so I doubt they're offending anyone.

@pp2\r \r Correct me if I am wrong, but a blog is meant to be the electronic bulletin board for a persons thoughts...do you only think once a day? Besides, if he was posting tits nobody would be complaining. \r \r The comics he posts are military related and you would have to be in the service (specifically the ARMY) to understand the inside jokes.\r \r I give you credit for posting though, so thumbs up for that.

I don't generally spam blogs. For the most part I only post once, maybe twice a day. Once for the BDS strip and usually once later when the thought hits regarding something else. In this case this was something that was brought while listening to the radio. I researched the story and posted. I don't take notes every time I hear or see something of interest so I can put it into digest format later.

Actually I thought this woman had a valid complaint. She paid for Chicken McNuggets, they didn't have any and then they wouldn't refund her money.

That makes it a civil matter not a 911 emergency.
