UPS fragged my gear

Well, we have a piece of diagnostic equipment that I had to ship back to the manufactures this week.  Its a Arterial Volume Plethysmographic unit, which is a fancy was of saying it detects the volume changes of a area of a limb in order to indirectly assess the quality of arterial flow.

Well, its a piece of crap, it has broken multiple times, been back to the manufacturer about a dozen times..blah blah.

Now today I get a call from the company saying that it has a broken power supply, the PC portion is fractures, there is a crack in the LCD touch screen and the chasis is bent.  How the hell they managed this i have no idea.

Downer?  We didn't insure the freaking thing, so now UPS has to go inspect it.  I know it was broken but it wasn't THAT broken when I sent it.  I have this feeling that they are going to use this damage to void out their promise to fix the machine.  And I am pretty sure UPS is going to say they didn't damage it.  So it will all flow back down hill and land on my lap, after it splashes across my face.  I get the feeling this is just the start of a very agonizing bout of fighting back and forth.

We tend to buy everything with some super warrenty where nothing is our fault. I could take a hammer to some stuff and they would fix it. Worth it to me, expensive for the guys with the expense account.
