Tivo Series 3 HD pwns my soul...

Ok so last month I broke down and bought a new Laptop from Best Buy. I used my Reward Zone card and got double points on the computer and accessories. So here I am 30 days later with $200 in Best Buy rewards and being the gadget freak I am it was burning a hole in my Banana Republic khakis BTW I am a Banana Republic FREAK and even have my own personal shopper at one of the stores here in Kansas City.

So anyway I open my email to pull the link to my certificates and low and behold there is another offer in the email...

"Buy a Tivo Series 3 HD from any Magnolia Home Theater Store inside a Best Buy Location and recieve $200 off" I though it was too good to be true so I printed off the coupon and strolled into my local Best Buy at 119th and Strang Line in Olathe armed with my $200 in Rewards Zone certificates fully expecting some type of catch to be involved. After 10 minutes of all 4 sales reps and one manager telling me that they have never seen something like this before and calling to verify that it was in fact a real deal they salesperson gives me the thumbs up while he's on the phone that "yes Chris you can use this coupon".

So proudly I marched out to grab the box and get this over with before someone kills me for stealing my 5th Tivo. I have wanted this thing for almost a year now and just couldn't bring myself to plop down $799 + tax for HD recording capabilities. But here I am picking this bad boy up for $300. Holy Shit.

I get home as fast as the law can't see me driving tear open the box and realize that I need 2 Comcast cable cards...SHIT. I get everything connected and hook my standard coax line in just to see how it all shakes down. I get through the guided setup register the Tivo online and name it "HD Pimp" for my home networking and setup the resolution to 1080i. I am STOKED even though I don't have it all running up to speed yet with the cable cards the menus and everything else looks amazing. I watched the tutorials in HD and even started mapping out my Season Passes off of the other Tivos and transferring my stored movies and content. It was like Christmas.

When I get the Cable Cards in sometime Saturday between the hours of 9am to 7pm I'll let you know what happens next.

How bigs the HD and how many hours of HD content can you record on it? I know SD is about a gig per hour, just curious what HD is.

32 hours of HD and 300 hours of SD in low quality. SD at best quality is about 150 hours which is a LOT of TV. \r \r I BETA tested a bunch of features for Tivo last year like buying movies via download and als buying movie tickets through Fandango through Tivo. I get my weather and traffic through Yahoo on my Tivo as well. There is just so much more to Tivo that just recording TV. One of my other ones has a DVD burner in it. I have a HUGE stack of movies from that thing.

That's the only piece of kit that could get me to get rid of my DirecTiVo HR10-250. Niiiice.\r \r If my cable provider didn't suck so bad I might consider it. :(
