There is mounting evidence which indicates that the reason for some people having the need to crossdress comes from what is sometimes referred to as the "Hormone Wash Theory". All fetuses start out appearing to be female. During gestation chromosomes in the fetus cause the mother to release a hormone wash that causes the fetus to either develop testes and penis or ovaries and uterus. It also causes differences in the brain that causes that brain to have either feminine or masculine traits. The developing embryo receives a massive "wash" of hormones from it's mother in a narrow 12 hour window at the end of the first trimester of pregnancy. It is at this point in time when some researchers believe that some of the characteristics of a typical heterosexual crossdresser are 'planted'. Straight men who crossdress are known to have an appreciation and admiration for women that is far above that of the typical male. This admiration is one of the factors that makes many men want to impersonate the object of their admiration. You might think of it as a sort of play acting like one may have done as a child when emulating one of the personalities seen on television. You knew you weren't superman or batman or any of hundreds of other well known figures or 'super-heros', but for a little while it was fun to pretend that you were. Crossdressing is very similar in the respect that straight men don't actually want to BE women, but rather to experience what they believe it might feel like for short periods of time. Another reason is that the texture and feel of feminine clothing is quite different from that of the usual male attire. Also the softer fabrics and wide assortment of colors and styles available to women is an attraction.

Most crossdressers are STRAIGHT men and contrary to popular belief, gay men are rarely crossdressers. This is logical since gay men are attracted to other gay men - NOT to women. With this in mind it doesn't make sense that a gay man would crossdress for the purpose of attracting another gay man.

I am happy that you are happy with your life but this is turning into fivesolas's style of shoving shit down our throat\r \r the really sad thing is, I still don't think you are serious and it is a slap in the face to people that may actually live that lifestyle and choose to not say anything

As I haven't seen anyone here accuse you of actually being gay I can only assume you are trying to convince yourself that you're not. Constant repitition of this argument is only going to lead to more and more people lashing out at you. I suggest that instead of posting here you should seek counseling by a licensed professional who might be able to help you resolve whatever self esteem issues this is clearly causing for you. \r \r Otherwise, I have to agree with everyone else... take it to a forum more in line with your interests and stop shoving your propaganda in our faces. \r \r Thanks.

Why are you so enthusiastic about labeling my explanation as a theory? Cross dressing is nothing more than Halloween 24/7. Thats it. Why are there some that are so uptight about it? I go not get it. Harms no peole & breaks no laws. It seems that your doing that due to some anger you harbor towards crossdressers.

Ok, but I am Wiccan and you don't hear me justifying that it isn't devil worship. (BTW the devil is a christian creation) you have stated what you feel we are free to take it or leave it as we choose. It might help you with a link to the \"scientific evidence\" and that should be all we hear about it. I could careless if you liked to walk around in women's underwear all day long. Ed Wood did and he seemed like an alright kind of guy, at least in the movie. As the doors said People are Strange and leave it at that.

Did you seriously just compare yourself to MLK? Don't compare this issue with civil rights, becuase thats was defending people born a certain way from being discriminated against in all aspects of life. It was not a choice they had, or a \"costume\" they could put away before going out in public or to a job interview. There is a men's room and a women's room, not a sexual preference or a I have a cock but wear panties restroom. You are not being disriminated against, people just don't like you becasue your you, it is not the clothes you wear.

A blog is a place to express your thoughts and write about things that are important to you. But dude(or whatever), seriously!! Enough already. You've made your point, now you're just running it into the ground and stirring up shit. \r \r You feel you are fighting some sort of battle. What you're really doing is preaching. You're preaching your beliefs and demanding we not only accept them, but embrace them. You have the right to dress like a woman. Fine, no one is disputing that. But, we also have the right to NOT LIKE IT and think it is STRANGE. No one here has tried to make you change the way you feel, but that is exactly what you're trying to do to us. Be who you are, but allow us to do the same.

If you are so interested in explaining to us that wearing a skirt is better, then wouldn't the others have just as much right to explain why men in pants is the way to go? Just saying. The more vocal sub groups are these days the more silent they expect their opposition to be. If you are going to get on a soap box (pink rhinestones or not) don't be surprised when some one that does not share you view whips out a bigger soap box to stand on.
