I have zero knowledge about crossbows (and pretty much everything else).

ah, the TAC15, the only crossbow that must be registered as a firearm. they are very cool, but if memory serves, the AR-15 lower receiver runs about $200-400 depending on the manufacturer, and the cross bow part runs about $1,000. They are very cool, but you can get a regular crossbow for mid $300s
