The Mystery of Mayonnaise

Does anyone actually know how long mayonnaise is supposed to last in your refrigerator?  I was making a turkey sandwich yesterday for lunch and pulled out my jar of Duke's mayonnaise and thought, "Jeez, this has been in my 'fridge a long time, I wonder if I should be eating it?".  By a long time I mean probably a year.  And the jar is still half full.  For some reason Duke's mayonnaise doesn't have a date on it.  But it hasn't ever made me sick - maybe I'm immune to food poisoning due to years of eating old mayonnaise.  But seriously, how long should I be keeping this stuff?

I always scrape off the stuff that's a different, yellowish color and just keep eating. The current jar in my fridge is 2 years old and I've never gotten any kind of sick from it.

Of course with the alcohol content in MTK, it would probably take a plague infected tick bite to give him the sniffles

found out on the net, the USDA recommends open mayo be replaced after 2months from the date it was opened.

Supposedly, females have this extra sense in their nose that can detect whether or not your mayo is bad. I just hand the bottle off to my wife or mother and have them check it out for me.

2 months? Who can finish a whole jar of mayonnaise in 2 months?

Mayo is disgusting. \r \r I'd much rather get some fresh guac or wasabi spread.
