The dog that keeps giving
If you read my earlier blog rom about a month and a half ago, you would know that I took home a stray dog I found on a hunting trip. I didn't realize I was picking up the bulk pack....
Apparently she was pregnant when I picked her up, she had her pups over the weekend. All of this is new to me, time to pick a coworkers brain, she and her husband breed German Shorthairs. I know strays give birth on the streets all the time, so I know her instincts will take care of the pups for the most part. Just want to know what I need to do. Oh well, thought I would share the little additions to the family

cute dogs! I'm no animal expert but I'll second the idea about the mother's instinct. We had kittens a few years back and we tried to keep them in a safe little habitat, but the mother kept moving them to where she wanted them. In the end we let her do her own thing with the kittens and they were all safe and healthy.
I'm torn between agreeing that she know best when taking care of her pups....but I have seen one dog eat her puppies as she birthed them, and one of our cats ignore the nice warm box that was out of the elements and chose to carry her kittens, one my one, into a dug out area of a snow drift a few feet away. 4 out of 6 died before we found them.\r

so, trust her, but keep a close eye on them.
Definitely been keeping an eye on them. Going home at lunch to check on them and give her some more food. She has been really good with them so far, believe me if she was not caring for them, I would be at home doing so.
definitely, just got back from topping off both bowls
