Rocket Shop visit!

It's been a while since I posted.  This week has been busier than hell and I'm going to Vegas tomorrow for my birthday.  The downside is that while I get tomorrow off, I have to work ntil 8-9pm tonight to cover an ill co-worker's post.  At least it's a long day BUILDING ROCKETS!!!

I put the boy on a plane yesterday to spend time back home with my parents.  The boy needs some down-home living to put everything in perspective.  I think riding horses and driving tractors is just what a city-bred boy like him needs.  He's gone the last couple of years and really enjoys it.  I'm mopey because he's gone, but it's still way cool.  :)

So I told him I'd bring him to the rocket shop prior to putting him on the plane.  This boy was out of his mind excited.  He's taken dozens of plane rides by himself and has more airmiles than I had until I was 25.  He could give a crap about the plane- so I started messing with him. 

"Why don't we just go to the airport and watch the planes taking off?"

"Not funny, Dad."

"How about we sleep in and just go straight to the airport.  Rockets are boring."

"Still not funny." 

So I brought him in.  We have stocked break rooms where everything is free- soda, water, waffles, you name it.  My buddy comes up to him and he says "Your job is to stuff as much of that stuff," pointing to the candy racks, "in your pockets as you can before you have to get on the plane."

My turn to say, "Not funny, dude."  :)

This is the reason for my existence.  Moment where I can share the world with him, teach him things and make him laugh.  He makes me feel like a good dad.
