Problem solved, LAN is GO!

we are still good for the LAN.....and I fixed the AC with $0 out of pocket expenses..... turns out in the middle of disassembling the entire unit (less the coolent lines of course), tha tI managed to find the problem...

This is an earwig.

it is an annoying little insect. They are EVERYWHERE in central PA, and they love cool dark moist places.  They are little more than a pest and consistant food supply for the spiders.  but when one of these little bastards finds their way into the control pannel of an AC unit they will explore every possible place looking for a good resting spot....this one happened to find a comfortable place inside one of the relays, specifically, in between the conacts that supply power to the entire unit.....when that contact closes on said insect, it results in the bug being slightly crushed and promptly electrocuted.....do they explode like any normal insect under those conditions? NO, they char black and keep the contacts from completing the circuit......giving the illusion that the AC unit has alot more wrong with it that previouslt thought.  so now that we have AC again, and have funding available, the Chicago trip is still on!

Congrats. It's unfortunate that the earwigs and stink bugs don't eat each other.

Yeah. In Florida, My maintenance staff find ants and lizards crushed in the contacters all the time.

@Snuphy I second that! and don't forget the ladybugs. they have started appearing in swarms. \r \r @TKBoss, I didn't realize it was a common occurrence. but I guess I'll have to surround my AC unit with a perimeter type of bug spray.

Sweet!!\r That's a great find. I know a lot of so called PROs that would have missed that.
