Presidential candidacy: race in the US is never black and white
Ok lengthy read, but is this really that rife in the US? I'm from South Africa, so know all about racism. Hell, we even decided to give it a name!!!!

That's actually a much more accurate article than I was expecting, and I think it sums things up nicely. The real problem is if he eventually loses the general election to McCain, there will be vociferous cries that he wasn't elected just because he was black. I'm sure there are some people who wouldn't vote for him because of his race, but I think most people who wouldn't vote for him could probably come up with other, more reasonable reasons.
