New Cell Phones

Our contract was up with Verizon and my wife was itching for a new phone so I went by today to start the process. She knew which phone she wanted, the LG Env2.  I was thinking I wanted the Voyager.  I believe cellphone salesmen are becoming car salesmen.  I asked him what these two phones out the door would be and he comes back with $350+.  No says I.  A friend had just bought a new Env2 right before Christmas for $50 and got $50 back in rebates.  Basically cost her tax.  They aren't running that special anymore.  Plus he had figured in the cost of the package where you get car charger and case and memory card for both phones.  After 5 minutes I convinced him that I didn't need these.  All said and done, after an hour, I walked out with 2 Env2s for $210 plus tax and I get $100 back in rebates.  Anybody ever worked in this business before?  I want to know if I could have done better.  Cheaper or had them throw things in with it.  I am not a good haggler.

we always get the \"new every 2\" and get them for free (with rebates). We are due to get new ones again. Last time we got the LG VX8300 and they have worked great. But they are just personal phones, as opposed to using them for work. We don't need keypads, or the functionality of the blackberry, actually don't care about cameras either. I think they are up to the 8500 now, probably what we are going to get.

I'm not a good haggler either. Just walked in, picked out my phone, and paid the price. Still, I know I made a mistake. I should have gotten a larger phone or I have to stop wearing it on a belt clip. Am just sick and tired of women pointing down at it and saying \"Oh my God I've never seen one so small\"
