Lets talk about Fun Dip...

Fun dip is that stuff you ate as a kid that had a sugar stick that you dip in that power sugar substance, you remember?

Good.

Now, let me tell you how NOT to eat it.  Last night on my way to my german class I stole some of this fun dip from my daughters easter basket (she has enough sugar and raw energy she wont mind).  It was nice out here in New Hampshire so I put my top down (audi TT roadster) and went on the road.  I found out the hard way that fun dip does not mix with top down convertable at 85mph.

First, you need two hands to really get the full advantage of fun dip.  So driving with my knees was called for.  That was working ok for a bit, but I lost 50% of my fun dip that wasnt stuck on the stick from the wind.  That got old fast, and the teenager that wanted to race me in his Jetta didnt help because I had to smoke him and show him that his little car had no chance against my 255hp (chipped) TT.  So I decided to just eat the stick and drive with my hands (apparently its safer that way).

Well after that I had to eat the powered out of the little baggie since I already ate my virtual spoon.  Second mistake- do not try to tip a bunch of sugar powder in your mouth while driving.  As I took the baggie away from my mouth the dust flew out and into my eyes.  That burns.  I could taste flavored sugar for hours, but the pain was not worth it.  Its like getting smoke from the BBQ in your eyes when the wind blows the wrong direction except it is more painful and accident prone because I was also moving at about 55mph at that point.

Word of advice: avoid dusty candy while driving with the top down.

Study: Multitasking triples car crash risk\r \r Thursday, April 20, 2006; Posted: 12:11 p.m. EDT (16:11 GMT) \r \r A study says activities like dialing a cell phone while driving triple the risk of a crash. \r (CNN) -- Multitasking drivers are three times as likely to be involved in a crash as more attentive motorists who dont dab on makeup, eat breakfast, or chat on cell phones, a new study reveals.\r \r The study offers scientific support for what most people already suspected: Inattentive driving causes accidents, and young drivers are much more likely to have inattention-related crashes.\r \r Almost 80 percent of crashes and 65 percent of near-crashes happen within three seconds of some form of driver distraction, according to the report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute.\r \r The two research groups tracked the behavior of 241 drivers in 100 sensor-equipped vehicles for more than a year. During the 2 million miles of the study, the drivers were involved in 82 crashes and 761 near-crashes.\r \r Reaching for a moving object multiplied the risk of a crash or near-crash by nine times, according to the study. Reading, applying makeup, or dialing a handheld device tripled the risk.\r \r The study found that drivers between 18 and 20 were four times as likely to have inattention-related crashes and near-crashes as drivers over 35.\r \r Drowsiness is also a problem, the researchers found. They said drowsy drivers are four times as likely to have a crash or near-crash.\r \r Researchers found that the most common distraction for drivers is the use of cell phones. The seconds spent dialing are the most dangerous.\r \r \"This important research illustrates the potentially dire consequences that can occur while driving distracted or drowsy,\" said Jacqueline Glassman, acting administrator of NHTSA. \"Its crucial that drivers always be alert when on the road.\"\r

I rarely use my cell phone on the road, so Im safe ;-)\r \r Oh, and I never do above 65MPH while being distracted. When I come to work (average 85mph to 105mph) I do nothing but pay attention on the road because so many others dont. ~~ CodeMonkey

Nice neanderthal, last year we had to part with our S4 (APR tuned to 307HP). It was replaced with the \"family car\" (Audi ALLRoad, not yet chipped but stock 250HP).\r ~~~~\r CodeMonkey
