Have you tried it on Blood Drive? Hole up in that back room (only one entrance) with a shield at the door and a shield on you. I never get stomped when I have a shield equipped and I am backed up against a wall. Good Luck!

I got to lvl 13 on Day One map. I notice the enemies are the same just harder to kill after lvl 10.
