Going \"Over The Road\" Soon.

Just to let some of you know, Im going back to being a truck driver, because the current job market here in Daytona Beach FL. Sucks.  I've found maybe a few temporary jobs here lately, but they pay really low, and I hate to be a hated telemarketer.  Seems like sales jobs are the only jobs I've found here since I moved here in Nov of 07.  I guess the main reason I'm posting this is because, as you may already know, truckers aren't home very much, so I may not be online to play with you guys when I go.  I'm still trying to decide which company I want to work for.  I dont have much 18 wheeler exp. (3 months) but drove a 10 wheeler for Budweiser for 3 1/2 yrs.  I sure will miss playing halo with you guys on a regular basis.  I probably wont be very good when i do play after I leave, but I'll still have a place in my heart for Halo.  Hopefully I'll find a company that lets me get home maybe 2 or 3 times a month, but most of them, your out for most of the month, and might get home once a month.  I dont know.  With the new DOT laws requiring 10 hrs of off duty time, I may get some sort of wireless internet, and an inverter for my TV and 360 so I can play maybe an hour or so each day/night.

Im trying to conjure up a good CB handle, so any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm retiring my old handle "Triple Nickel", as most of the company trucks, aren't that fast.  I'll bring that one back if I ever buy my own truck. For those not sure what Triple Nickel means, look at it like this:  Double Nickel= 55 = standard speed limit for non interstate roads.  Triple Nickel would be "hammer down" , haulin ass fast.  So anyway, yeah, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Again, unless I get the wireless internet thing, which I doubt would be fast enough (I'll have to do my homework), I may not be able to get on and play but maybe once or twice a month.  But at least I'll be making close to a grand a week, which beats the hell outa minimum wage jobs I find here.  I definately wont get back on the road until all this THC gets out of my system View ImageView Image, so I'll be playing pretty much non stop for the next month or so. (At least I wont have to miss getting the new 7 on 7 achievement in halo.

Well, I'm off to study the new DOT laws that have came about since 2005, and to refresh on the pretrip inspection.  See you guys online.

Also you got to think about what do you want to haul. Local or long distance then you have to decide weather you will be driving refer, flat bed, or dry haul or Hazmat. \r \r Don't forget also that not all companies are the same. Will you be buying your own truck or using the companies truck? As owner operator you won't really get a huge start till you have made a name for yourself.\r \r Now if you choose long distance will you be by yourself or go for team driving. Thing about teams is you got to like your team mate. \r \r Only reason why i am posting so much is I come from a family of truckers.\r \r Stay away from JBHunt & Swift. Take schnieder before them, but stay away from them to. I recomend everyone else, but this is just on family experiance with them. \r \r Keep that driving record of yours fine and you will be all right. Also learn that Log book cause it can get you out of trouble or get you in deep water.

Ex Brother-in-law is a single trucker. Cheapest way if you like boats. Purchase about a 30ft boat. I know you like those things cost money. Well if you have no house you can always buy a boat and pay docking fees and pocket the rest fo your money. He saves a tone since he has no house to pay taxes on or rent. Think he pays about 500 a month on that and 30 on storage for his stuff. Just another thing to think about.

If you go flat bed trucks I would recommend Milton out of Oklahoma. \r \r Refer i am not sure about, but I do know if you flip a beer truck it cost over 11,000 for the towing company to get it up and over.

Good luck with everything dude. I dont know anything about trucking except that one i see one on the road i give them their space and not try to cut them off like a lot of folks i see do. I lot of us play on Friday night, so if you time your breaks with that you'll find plenty of folks playing customs or MM. take care and good luck.
