Gaming Podcasts

One of the best features of video gaming culture is not necessarily video games.  I am talking about video game podcasts.  The "Player One Podcast" is a podcast that a listened to during my recent excursion into chemotherapy.  Retronauts has every podcast thar they have ever done at posted on 1up.  Recently, I listened to podcasts from 2007 concerning Phantasy Star and Survival Horror Games.  I guess you can say I was really retro for retronauts.

I was wondering why I love these podcasts so much. The main reason is that they entertaining.  Usually the hosts are pretty funny people.  Secondly, they fill in the void of discussing video games with people.  We used to be able to talk about video games during school or even college but at 39 there aren't many people at work who play video games as much as I do.  Thank God my sister, age 42, fills in for that void on a daily basis.

The final point is that there is so much turnover in the videogame industry that these podcasts seem to have abrupt endings.  It is as if your friends moved away. Also, it can be frustrating when they spoil a new game with a plot twist.

One of the main reasons I'm here is to talk about games. I'm not much of a multi-player, enjoying SP games more than anything else. I'm too firmly rooted in the old-school roots of gaming to enjoy conforming toa bunch of people and call it fun.\r \r Talking about video-games is something else though, especially if the people are willing to pick games apart and talk about the game from their own perspective, instead of what their friends or the interwebz tell them to say.
