Contest Results Update
This is going to take a bit of work, so be patient. ;; I have a group of folks reading the documents, but there are 24 submissions at two pages a pieces and each individual must read each of them so that they can rank them against one another. ;; This takes time, so be patient. ;; Take into consideration that our reviewers are doing it for free, when theyre not working (presumably) so I dont want to hassle them for fast results. ;; Well get it done though.
Magazine Feedback
Ive not gotten too much reader feedback lately, but Im guessing folks are reading the magazine. Im assuming everyone likes it (since it has a good download rate). If there are things you dont like about it or want to see in it please let me know. ;; I have at least another 5 months worth of game room photos to publish, so keep looking for yours to show up if you submitted it to the forums at any point in time.
Magazine Community Advertisments
I know we wanted more community advertisements in the magazine but frankly Ive run out of ideas and I am not in "the know" about everything going on. ;; So, if you know of some events that will be taking place (a month in advance) or know of reoccuring events and want them in the magazine as a side-bar text block then pass them to editor@2old2play.com
Community News
A lot of folks submit community news to the "site news" on the front-page, but as you probably notice, not all gets published. ;; Mainly because it may be highly focused on a specific subject or really tailored to a smaller group of people (like a specific halo match result or something). ;; This type of stuff will fall better in the magazine then the homepage at times. ;; So if you submit it, and it doesnt make the homepage, you can always try the magazine. ;; There is a better chance it will hit if Im low on content for the month.
Gaming News
Although our magazine is highly editorial-centric TANK does try to supply us with some gaming news and information people may not have seen. ;; If you have news about technology or gaming related coolness and you want to write something up about it, please do! ;; We can use more news about all areas of gaming (pc, hand-held, console, mac, etc.) ;; The writers are busy doing editorials and getting the magazine prepped - we cannot do it alone, there is a ton of work already being done to get the magazine out each month. ;; I need more hands to feed us news. ;; If its BREAKING news, we also want it on the front page of 2old2play A.S.A.P (doodi is currently dragging up anything he can thats breaking news for the front page).
Interviews
You guys like the interviews were doing with game developers? ;; Find it interesting? ;; Wish you could hear more from some of your favorites? ;; Send me an email (editor@2old2play.com) and Ill try to get in contact with the specific people (or have Sha do it ;-) ). ;; Just remember that were pretty small in the public eye so I doubt well get any news breakers or leaks. ;; However, I try to ask more down to earth questions to gain their respect so that when we are a bit bigger they will remember me and devulge information in the future for us ;-) ;; Its an attempt, right?
So far coming down the pipe we have an interview with Large Animal (www.largeanimal.com) which will go with a LEGO: Bricktopia game review (check it out on their website, its a fun breakout style game). ;; This will make issue #6.
An interview with PopCap Games (www.popcap.com) who put out Zuma, Bookworm, Bejeweled, etc. ;; I will also be running some game reviews for the magazine on some of their puzzle/learning games.
Weve also got an interview with the folks at Red vs. Blue that twistedcaboose conducted, that should be neat.
Sha got us in contact with GestureTek (http://www.gesturetek.com/) who has obtained the Microsoft Vision Project (press release: http://www.gesturetek.com/press_may10.php). ;; Sha is helping me with some of the questions for this interview because hes curious about their technology. ;; If you guys have any questions let me know, Im formulating a list for them to answer.
Im wrapping up an interview with Llamma, a console modder & repair shop. ;; This guy is very nice, very enthusiastic about gaming and technology (http://www.llamma.com/). ;; If you have a dead console he buys them from you (for parts presumably) or he can do repairs to bring it back to life. ;; Dont send that crap back to the manufacterer and get raped on cost.
Lastly, we have three reviews outstanding that the companies havent gotten back to me on (well harrase them until they do): Activision for the Call of Duty series, Rockstar for GTA/Table Tennis, and Microsoft/Carbonated Games for UNO. ;; I was hoping to get that UNO interview back for the last issue but it didnt happen (hence the reason there was no interview in this issue).
Ok, this went longer then I thought. ;; Ta ta for now.
