EXCESSIVE NOISE EDITION

I work in Downtown San Francisco and this week is Fleet Week. I've been listening to the loud crack of F/A-18 Hornet jet fighters flying around the buildings down town here. These jets are FAST... i'm used to watching commercial aircraft come and go from the Oakland airport across the bay, but these Hornets move! And damn are they loud, you can always hear them but trying to actually see them is a different matter. Anyway this is a yearly thing, they'll be flying around practicing today and tomorrow and then the actual show is sometime on the weekend.

Blue Angles flying over Bay Bridge and Waterfront San Francisco... hey guy on the top, YOU'R DOING IT WRONG!

I live very close to a Navy base and have watched the Blue Angels several times. They are awesome. It's so amazing to see how fast, loud and agile those planes are. I'm used to the A10's that usually fly at the base.\r \r My wifes old daycare center was located was on the landing path for the base. These things would be screaming over the center about 100 feet off the ground!

Nice picture.\r When I lived in Louisiana, I was only about 15 miles from Fort Polk. Every 2-3 months or so they'd have fighter jets flying maneuvers right over the house. There'd be about 4 of them up there dogfighting and chasing each other. I guess they use lazers or something? It was pretty amazing to watch.

people were worried - ships came in a day late and the wind was harsh when they were flying - but all is good.
