Dead Cats

I woke up this morning and look out the kitchen window. The neighbors cat is laying in my backyard. The cat spends more time at my house than his. I am not a big cat fan but this cat is okay. I rummage around for something to eat and look out the window again. Cat hasn't moved. I look closely. The cat appears wet. I keep looking and it hits me. That cat is dead. Great. I go ahead and get ready for church. I keep hoping the neighbors will see the cat and take care of it. I notice that both the neighbors cars are still in the driveway. They always leave for church before me. Guess somebody is sick (besides the cat). I figure by the time I get home the cat will be gone. Go to church, eat, come home just now. Cat is still here. I notice another neighborhood kid feeding the first neighbors dogs. Uh oh. I walk over to see where the kid is. He informs me that they are gone for a week. I tell him about the cat. He looks at me like, "What do you want me to do?" Looks like I will be burying a cat in a few minutes. Do I bury it in their yard or mine? This sucks.

Raiz3R is nicer than me. \r \r I would not say anything to anyone. I would put it on there grill and close the lid. Then I would swap out an empty propane tank and turn their burners on... J/K\r \r Really, bury it in their yard. I am not sure about IN, but here in NY, the coyotes or fox would have made off with it.

We were eating lunch and I was telling my buddy about it. My almost 4 year old says don't worry dad, the dog will eat it. Where I live in TN, we have coyotes and bears but I live pretty close to town so no such luck. Just got done burying it in their yard.

Here in Rochester,NY they have a wild bear running around the city. They are trying to trap it in a giant \"have-a-heart\" trap... It looks like a big dog crate.

Why should you bury it? Besides, if someone saw you burying the thing, they could think that you killed it. Throw it in their yard and let them deal with it.

Where would you decide to bury it in their yard? I would say bury it in an un assuming place in your yard or just bag it and tag it and call animal control.

reminds me of an old story Michael Landon told on Carson one night where his dog came trotting into the house carrying his neighbors' rabbit. The neighbors were gone, so he washed and blow dried the rabbit and put it back in it's cage so they would think it died of natural causes. The neighbors came home and were shocked to find the rabbit in it's cage and went over to tell Landon the odd miracle that their rabbit had died so they buried it. When they got home, they found in horror that it had dug it's way out of the hole and made it back into it's cage before finally dying for real.
