Buying Games Just To Buy Games

Lonewolf's blog got me thinking about my game buying habits. When I think about it many times I truly buy a game just for the sake of buying a game. I bought X-Men Legends II months ago and have yet to play it. Painkiller was last month and it hasn't even been unwrapped. I have plenty of games that I've played one or two times and that's it.

Why do I do this? Best reasons I can figure out are:

  • I'm friends with a few of the guys who work at EB Games who usually take good care of me so I like to give them some extra sales
  • I like to buy and collect games so I buy more than I really can play often
  • I buy games that my friends own to play on Live because it's fun to game with them
  • I fall for game hype easily
  • Right now I have a gaming budget that lets me buy a good number of games

I probably should cut back on my purchases and play more of the games I already have but it's almost like I have an adiction when it comes to video games.

So how about all of you? Do you find yourself buying more games than you have time to play?

I really only buy games where the online multiplayer gets good reviews here at 2old2play. I rarely complete the single player, as I am much more interested in online play.

Yeah, I pretty much buy any game I'm interested in at all, regardless of the fact that typically I'll give it a playthrough or two, few hours of online then move on to the next. *sigh*
