Best Xbox 360 Controller recharge solution I have found

As per request, I am reviewing my new Nyko 360 recharge cradle. This thing is great, with very little downside. Put simply, I don't know why someone wouldn't opt for this solution. It is cheap (under $30), convenient, and solves multiple problems.

Pros: This cradle comes with two rechargeable batteries. They are special made to work with the cradle. Just pop the batteries onto your controller, and place the controller onto the cradle. The LED will show red to indicate charging, then green to indicate it is charged, then turn off to indicate a full charge. This helps prevent overcharging of the battery. The whole process takes about two hours from dead to full for one controller, and 4 for two. That is fast.

So how much play time will you get? Likely more than you will need. They advertise 25 hours of play time, and I don't think they are far off. Today we had a controller playing steadily from 8 in the morning until 2:10 AM the next day, and the XBOX showed we had only used one bar! Not even enough discharge to make the led on the controller spin around! I was impressed, to say the least. If you do get into trouble during a game session, you don't have to stop using your favorite controller, as the battery is compatible with existing chargers, such as the plug and play that comes with the MS batteries.

The base makes for a convenient place to store your controllers as well. When you are done playing, just place the controller in its cradle. No more searching for your controller! It is nice having the battery stay in the controller as well. No more removing the battery to charge it.

After a while all batteries need to be replaced. Think this is where they get ya? Nope. Extra batteries can be had for under $10.

Cons: About the only con I can think of is this controller will NOT work with the MS rechargeable batteries since the charge contacts are on the bottom outside of the battery. Still, this is not an issue, since they give you two batteries with the base!

Well, that about covers it. I bought mine at Target for $27. Online they have the black for 23.99, and they say black isn't available in store, but I found that at my local target, all they had were the black. They come in black or white.

Here are some pics, and a video if I can figure out how to embed it.

I picked one of those up a while back. Certainly comes in handy, having an extra battery ready at all times. I have noticed that the battery longevity is a bit lower than I'm used to out of AA's or even the Microsoft rechargeable, but with a ready backup, it's not a large concern.

I've had one of these for about a year now and it works good for me, as of lately it has been losing the first bar rather quickly tho. Still I can usually go at least a couple of days before needing to charge it again.

I've been thinking about getting one of these. Thanks for the review. I have only seen them in white at Wallyworld but if Target has them in black, even better.

You all are quite welcome. In the future I will be posting my review of the Turtle Beach X11 headset, and the FPSFreeks.
