Most of you who have been following my blog already know of my love for the COD games, and if you know that, then you also know I’m not very good at it. I seem to be the kill-ee much more than the kill-er, but, since I’m there more to have fun than to show off, I’m okay with that.

My husband was watching me play a little bit last night, which lead to a conversation. Usually, when someone remarks that they don’t get many kills, or that their k/d ratio is bad, what they mean is they get 9 or 12 kills, something like that, and, like, 18 deaths. When I say I’m bad, what I mean is bad. I’m talking 3 kills and 35 deaths bad. I stink.

However, the few kills that I do get, are often times quite impressive. My instincts are very, very good, but my reaction time is a bit slow. Most of the time, I think, if I could just get 1 or 2 more bullets in, they’d die instead of me. So my husband has proposed an interesting theory, which I am eager to get your opinions on.

He thinks that a wired controller may give me, say, a millisecond advantage over the wireless I’m using now – possibly the 2 extra bullets I’m talking about.

So my question is, do you think this is true? His theory is that there is a time lag while the controller communicates with the box, which makes sense to me. (Of course this won’t make me a better player, it just gives me a little bit better shot at being normal sucktastic, instead of super extra sucktastic.)

Since we have three injured controllers, and only one working controller, it’s time to purchase a new one. So I thought before I run out and by the same ol’ thing again, that I might do some “research”, and see what others in this community think.

I think it goes without saying, (but here I am saying it anyways,) that I am against a modded controller, so please, no suggestions on that. The idea of not knowing if it was me, or the controller, that just got that really cool kill doesn’t appeal to me much.

This week I’m throwing a shout-out to XSSmoke (your comment about licking the mail, and the money and all that was very amusing, Thank You.), and one to Sandra33, for her caring remarks in another post.

From what heard as well a wired controller does have a faster response time compared to a wireless. The only reason I stick to wireless is that my son would be tripping over or getting tangled in the wires and yanking it out of my hands while I play.

I can assure you that playing with a wired controller will do you no better. If your KDR is that bad then you need to slow down your game and play more campy. First, learn and know everything about all the maps, find the bottlenecks of where enemys will travel often, use claymores to cover your back, use guns with low recoil to improve your aim. best thing to do is to critique your own game and find the flaws.

I agree with KnifeMAN and also I'll add that you have aim better. It's all about getting the reticle onto the enemy and pressing the trigger. Lower your sensitivity, you'll take longer to turn around but if you play like he suggests, you don't have to worry about that and you'll aim better. Run Ghost and pay attention to your mini-map. Use stuns when the red dots get close.\r \r Try playing Combat Training, start with the low level and work up to Hardened. Don't even think about Veteran!

Sticking to wired controllers is a consideration that's only plausible for the high-end players who are looking for a little extra (even if we're talking pico-seconds here.) over the competition.\r \r Everybody not in that brackett will have no extra benefit coming from wireless to wired.\r \r It's true though, wired controllers are faster, but don't fall in the trap that they make the difference between a amateur and a pro. Because if that was the case, we all would be driving Formula One cars because that makes us drive cars better...

I've tried wired controllers, and haven't had a significant difference in my game (of which I have NONE). Definitely not enough of one to justify going away from wired. \r \r And am I the only one who thought of Adam West as Batman when KnifeMAN said to play more campy?

Dose your TV have a game mode? On my 42\" Toshiba you can definitely tell the difference.

I sucked with wired controllers back in the day---and I suck with wireless. Oh well, smack talking is still fun!
