Tiffany "ElektraFi" Nolan hit the Square Enix took in the Square Enix experience on her own to see what the Japanese publisher has up its sleeve for gamers this go-around. Square Enix seems very focused on its venerable Final Fantasy series this year, but is also offering a first look at a new Kingdom Hearts, a couple of Deus Ex games, a stealthy reboot, and a ghostly murder mystery.
Thief (PS4)
Eidos Montreal plays dev for the reboot of the stealthy cult classic, Thief. Players again assume the role of a master thief, Garrett, returning for the Heart of Lion. Garrett has access to all the tools and tricks of the trade: hiding in shadows, throwing stuff to distract guards, using water arrows to extinguish torches, and use of a bow and arrow with an attached rope to access high places. Garrett has already stolen Batman's detective mode, but he's no Batman: if Garrett gets into a jam with the guards it's Replay City, baby.

Murdered: Soul Suspect (PS3/Xbox 360)
This PS3 detective ghost story is under development by Airtight Games and scheduled for an early 2014 release. The protagonist is a recently deceased hard-boiled detective who makes use of both earthly and supernatural clues to solve his own murder. Tiff describes the game as "super cool" with some puzzle solving elements and a detective mode, but she speculates that Murdered: Soul Suspect might not be for everyone. The end of the trailer indicates that it might be an episodic-type game, like Telltale's The Walking Dead.
