The triumphant sounds of Spring can be heard everywhere: birds tweeting in the backyard, the incessant roar of poorly maintained lawn mowers attempting a final cut before their wheezing, premature demise, and my giggling, meth-addicted neighbor crawling around in his open garage at three in the morning: Spring is definitely my fourth favorite season. That being said, we do have a decent showing in the new release department this week. A very mean game is back to school you in academic sin, a mystery dungeon goes portable, and Nintendo shrinks another hit JRPG.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin

So the guys at Bandai Namco thought it would be a good idea to bundle Dark Souls 2 and all of its DLC into a special edition and sell it again. Current gen players are now able to get in on the frustration of playing a game that they have no hope of finishing, but with new content, like characters and items, the aforementioned DLC bundle, upgraded graphics and sound, as well as a performance boost and the multiplayer session cap is increased to six players.

I hope that you enjoyed the trailer because Nintendo is now charging for that: you owe Nintendo five dollars. Nintendo’s new practice of killing revenue from "Let's Play" session captures may not last forever, but their practice of shrinking console hits down to a portable size seems to have no end and Xenoblade Chronicles is their latest victim. Enjoy the game, just don’t try to stream it on Twitch.
