E3 ‘07: MGS4 Last in Series, Still PS3-Exclusive

It’s not an E3 press conference unless you get some kind of mind altering trailer or demonstration from the next game in the Metal Gear Solid series, and this year’s trailer gives us a glimpse into the series’ questionable future.

He says it about every new installment in the series, but does he mean it this time? Hideo Kojima stepped up to the stage to deliver the latest trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots:

I’ve been creating this Metal Gear franchise for over 20 years, over many platforms, and this MGS4 will be the final part of the series. The story of Snake will end with this one and me, as a game creator, this will be my last to end with this series. So, all the story plot, the characters, the mysteries, will be revealed.

All signs point to the game still being Sony-exclusive, and the trailer ends with a worlwide release date of 2008.
