Sure, we’ve heard rumblings about the developmental existence of Activision’s handheld effort to further milk the Guitar Hero series, but it’s hard to find anything passing over the 2o2p news desk that left us puzzled more than the official unveiling of the peripheralized DS version of the series, dubbed Guitar Hero: On Tour.
If the double-watermarking of the above image hasn’t clued you in, IGN was lucky enough to score the exclusive reveal, with a slew of interesting (and somewhat frustrating) details. While we still prefer the fan-made contraption featured on Kotaku, if you want to get your rocks (and, quite possibly, rolls) off away from the comforts of your home, you’ll be using the four-fretted GBA slot attachment pictured above. Yeah, we know. Picking strings is done…via an actual guitar pick through the DS touch screen. Neat, but not all that practical.
Guitar Hero lives or dies by its soundtrack (or, for the cool kids, set list), however On Tour looks to bring a significantly shallower song list, with “more than 20 licensed songs from bands as Nirvana, OK Go, and No Doubt.”
Guitar Hero: On Tour for the Nintendo DS currently has a release window of Summer 2008.
Oh yeah, one more thing…
We’re sorry for subjecting you to this, dear reader:
