Zombie Rapture

 I have finally figured it out. 

Upon the return of our Lord, the souls of all of the “true believers” will be raptured away.  This will leave the mindless, soulless bodies still functioning only under their primal brain functions.  These bodies will be driven to subsistence needs, primarily food and water.  These zombies may also show unusual aggression toward other humans because of the anguish caused by the violent removal of their souls.  The mistaken belief that zombies are dead comes from their often damaged appearance which occurs because they have no higher brain function to protect themselves from injury.  The fact that their body is still alive and being fed would account for the unusually long period of animation for the “undead” just as a coma patient may continue on life-support for many years.  This “zombie apocalypse” will undoubtedly be the cause of the biblical Hell-on-Earth described in Revelations.
